Mission: Task Force Operations
Location: Passageway
Timeline: 19 MAY 2389

When the meeting regarding the Freedom's Legion concluded she hung back in the briefing room waiting for those chatting after to finish up. When it seemed like an opportune time she approached one of the officers she'd yet the chance to meet officially.

"Captain Harper?" Heather said, approaching. "I'm Lieutenant Kowal, I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself while we're in the same place."

Kennedy stopped when she heard her name and turned her attention toward Heather before offering her a friendly smile, then extending a hand in her direction. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant," she stated. "You're the Commanding Officer of Law Enforcement Team 72, yes?"

"Yes ma'am," she said, cheerfully. "It's been an interesting first couple of weeks," her cheerfulness dropping off.

Captain Harper gestured for Heather to walk with her. "Hearing that, along with your change in expression, doesn't sound very promising. Do you want to talk about it? I am your Task Group Commanding Officer after all," she pointed out. "If there's anything I can do, all you have to do is let me know."

"Things with the team are fine this Legion thing is concerning," she told her. "It will definitely change the tempo of our operations and I am hoping that commands that may need it will reach out for our help."

Kennedy nodded her head. After all, this Legion mess was why she would be staying a bit longer than anticipated. Then again, she had faith in her staff, and knew they'd be able to handle things in her absence. That didn't mean she wouldn't be checking in on them from time to time, though. And, she had her Yeoman to keep her up to date on what was going on back on campus. "If help is required, I trust that those in command will request it. Have you received your orders yet?"

"Orders?" Heather asked, confused.

"Yes. What your role in all of this will be," the Captain clarified. At least, she hoped that cleared things up a bit.

"Oh, yes ma'am," she said. "The Team will be continuing to monitor the situation and investigate leads as necessary. We will also be offering our expertise for commands who need a little help buffing up their security protocols. The Commodore briefed me directly prior to the meeting," she explained.

Kennedy nodded her head as the two walked. "Sounds like you and your people have the potential to be quite busy," she commented. "I plan to keep my eyes and ears open. Being stationed on Bajor could see something happen. Time will tell, though."

"We are always busy ma'am," she told her, with a smile. "The unit structure allows us to create our own operational and patrol orders... we are always out looking for trouble and keeping our area safe."

"If you don't mind me asking, how do you get from place to place?" the Captain asked.

"We have a variety of runabouts," Heather explained. "Mostly Arrow Class, however, we also have some others. Argo, Danube, the like. We can also hitch rides if we need."

Kennedy nodded her understanding. It made sense to travel that way, but being caught on a runabout by an enemy didn't sound very appealing to her. Of course, things like that could happen, even to her. "I travel the same way when I need to leave campus. Of course, this is the first time my presence was requested in person, but I'm pretty sure it won't be the last."

“I think we will all be seeing each other more often than we planned, ma’am,” Heather responded, with a frown. “This Freedoms Legion isn’t going to just go away... and the climate in the A-O-R with the pact and the deadline approaching was bad enough.”

"My hope is that things don't start getting violent," Captain Harper stated. "That's the last thing anyone needs."

"They lit themselves on fire, ma'am, I think they are already violent. I also don't think that they'll continue to only harm themselves. I think that if they are that willing to sacrifice their own self why not someone else?" Heather said.

She was right, of course, and Kennedy knew it. This entire situation was likely to get a lot worse. "You're right," she admitted. "This has potential to get incredibly dangerous."

"Unfortunately, it's my job to be the pessimist but that doesn't mean I don't hope I'm wrong," Heather said.

"I think we all hold out hope things won't get any worse, but as you pointed out already, they have lit themselves on fire," the Captain said. "At this point, all we can really hope for is that these people don't turn on others."

Heather simply nodded at her boss, "I need to get to my runabout and head back to Headquarters. If you need anything please don't hesitate to reach out, ma'am."

"Understood, Lieutenant. I need to check in with my people back on campus as well. Let them know I'm going to be gone a bit later than originally planned," she said, offering Heather a smile. "It was a pleasure to meet you, and I'm sure we'll be seeing one another in the future."

"I'm sure we will ma'am, nice meeting you too," she said, heading for the turbolift.
